The aim of the Finnish Medical Foundation is to support Finnish medical research and education. The Foundation is a member of the Association of Finnish Foundations and adheres to the Best Practice for Foundations (Code of Conduct) and Good Governance of Foundations in its activities.
The Foundation’s operations are guided by its Council. The Council consists of 12 members, of which 8 must be members of the Finnish Medical Society Duodecim. The Council members are appointed for a three-year term and can be reappointed for a maximum of two consecutive times.
The Council appoints the Foundation’s Board. The Board consists of 6 members, of which at least 3 must be members of the Finnish Medical Society Duodecim. The term of office for a Board member is three years. The same individual can be reappointed to the Board for a maximum of two consecutive times.
The Foundation’s Board leads the Foundation’s operations, oversees the acquisition and management of the Foundation’s assets, and prepares important financial and other matters. The Board decides on the distribution of grants and awards.
